Digital Trends Teams Up With SharkNinja and Celebrity Chefs to Open For Good

The restaurant industry is in the midst of an unprecedented struggle. Even as the world begins to phase into a more open public life, the necessary restaurant accommodations for social distancing threaten already tight industry margins.
When we consider that more than half of restaurants don’t make it to their first anniversary under pre-COVID circumstances, the future of the industry looks bleak.
Popular Millennial technology publisher, Digital Trends, has launched a new series to help the struggling restaurant industry. The show, Open For Good, appears on their popular video channel, Digital Trends Live.
Open For Good is a way to give back to restaurants,” says Digital Trends CRO, Bob Gruters. “We want to be a part of the re-imagining of how people are using technology to stay connected.”
According to their press release, Gruters has assembled a roster of celebrity chefs in partnership with influencer agency, Influential. Daniella “Chef Danie” Abraham, who has delivered five star cuisine to clients that include Kylie Jenner, Drake, Oprah, Antonio Banderas, Diddy, and Pharrell, as well as numerous pro athletes, kicked the show off last Thursday.
The series also highlights charities like World Central Kitchen, which is working with more than 1,200 restaurants nationwide to purchase and deliver meals to vulnerable families and communities impacted by COVID-19.
“We’re excited about what World Central Kitchen is doing because they’re supporting local businesses while supporting local families, and helping offset the strain on services like food banks and school meal programs,” says Gruters.
As the launch partner of Digital Trends’ Open For Good series, Ninja will be donating 1,000 pressure cookers to benefit the restaurant workers impacted by COVID-19. The first episode aired on Thursday, May 21st at 2:00PM Pacific, at www.digitaltrends.com/live.
